5) The Lambert store was built by Edwin Lambert around 1914. Mr. Ed Lambert and his family lived above the store on the second floor. In addition to being a store merchant, Mr. Lambert was a sharecropper to provide for his family. *Interesting Fact: though known for being exceedingly thrifty, when the home of his mother-in-law, Nannie Gray, went up for auction Mr. Lambert bought it as a surprise for his wife. He was also known to play both the banjo and violin.
